IPv6 is the newer Internet Protocol with much larger address space than IPv4. Many networks still use IPv4; this page shows whether your connection to this site used IPv6.
Many networks still reach websites over IPv4 only. If your Internet Service Provider or device is not using IPv6 for this connection, we will say so clearly.
- Windows:Settings → Network & internet → your adapter → Edit Internet Protocol assignment, or uncheck IPv6 in adapter properties.
- macOS:System Settings → Network → Details → TCP/Internet Protocol (or use networksetup).
- Linux:disable the inet6 interface or set ipv6.disable=1.
- Router:toggle IPv6 in WAN/LAN settings.
- Reload this page after changing to verify.
IPv6 itself is not a privacy tool. Security depends on your network setup, firewall, and whether you use a Virtual Private Network, not the address family alone.
Most sites still work over IPv4. IPv6 helps when your network or Internet Service Provider prefers it, and it is useful for newer addressing, but it is not required for everyday browsing.
